Amazing recipes, good filming, nice voice and some jokes is a good description for this channel:

You will be able to find recipes from all over the world prepared by Chef John.

He gives good explanations with a some jokes which makes the videos very nice to watch even if you do not cook.

The other point that makes me like his video is that he is only filming the preparation and not everything that is happening around.

Finally, I just love this channel. So you should give it a try 😉

PS: Here is one of his recipe that I will definitely try:

Chicken Shawarma

A way to do some yummy and spicy shawarma at home.

Ingredients for 2 wraps:

  • 2 tortilla wraps
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • Any veggies that you like for the topping
  • 1 lemon
  • Olive oil
  • A garlic clove
  • Spices:
    • 2 teaspoons of cumin
    • 2 teaspoons of coriander
    • 2 teaspoons of cardamon
    • 1 teaspoon of paprika
    • 1 teaspoon of pepper
    • 1 teaspoon of salt
    • Half a teaspoon of cinnamon
    • Half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper (If you like it slightly hot)
  • Sauce:
    • 1 greek yoghourt (not sweet)
    • Cumin
    • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
    • Parsley
    • Chive
    • Mint

  1. Start with the marinade:
    1. Mix and crush if necessary the spices.
    2. Add a crushed clove of garlic and the juice of half a lemon.
    3. Finally add 3 tablespoons of olive oil.
  2. Marinate the chicken in the fridge over night. I actually like to prepare the marinade in the evening, put it in the fridge for the night and put the chicken in it in the morning so it marinate during the day.
  3. Preheat your oven at 220°C (430°F).
  4. Cook the chicken in a oven grid for 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Take it out of the oven and let it slightly cool down for 5 to 10 minutes.
  6. Cut the chicken in thin slices.
  7. If you find it not cooked enough or you want it crispy, stir-fry the slices on high heat with some olive oil.
  8. Slice the veggies you want to use as topping. For me it is some tomato, onion and lettuce.
  9. For the sauce:
    1. Mix the yoghourt, half a teaspoon of crushed cumin, the garlic powder, some sliced parsley, chive and mint and the juice of a quarter of lemon.
    2. Add some pepper and salt to taste.
  10. Finally, warm up your wraps, put some spicy sauce if you like it, the chicken slices, the toppings and the sauce and roll the wrap.

Bon appétit!

The “Classic” Burger

This is my “simplest” burger: whenever anybody ask me for a burger without telling me what they want I make them this one.

Ingredients for one burger:

  • Burger buns
  • Burger cheese
  • Onion
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Mayonnaise
  • Ketchup
  • 150gr of minced beef
  • Salt and pepper
  • Spices (chili, paprika, cayenne …)

  1. Make a patty from the minced meet by forming a ball and throwing it from a hand to another until it gets smooth.
  2. Slice the lettuce and a tomato.
  3. Dice the equivalent of a quarter of onion and mix it with a tablespoon of mayonnaise.
  4. Mix the ketchup with some spices that you like. I generally use pepper, paprika, chili and cayenne pepper.
  5. Cook your patty as you like it (medium rare is the best for me) until it is practically ready, add a cheese slice on it while it is still in the pan and add a drop of water in the pan and cover until the cheese melt. This way you have a perfectly melted cheese.
  6. Toast the buns.
  7. Finally build the burger (from bottom to top):
    1. Bottom bun
    2. Cheese
    3. Ketchup mix
    4. Patty with cheese on top
    5. Onion mix
    6. Tomato
    7. Lettuce
    8. Top bun

Bon appétit!

Experiements, Recipe

Spicy Beer and Honey Chicken Wings

I was trying to successfully make something like this for a couple of times and finally got something good.

  • 15 to 18 chicken wings
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • Ginger
  • Sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds
  • Rice vinegar
  • Chili ( I used some dry ones and some flakes)
  • Beer
  • Honey
  • Chive
  • Salt

  1. For the marinade:
    1. Crush 3 garlic cloves, an 1*1*2cm piece of garlic, the chili and a tablespoon of sesame seeds.
    2. Mix it with 3 tablespoons of sesame oil, 3 tablespoons of rice vinegar and a teaspoon of salt.
  2. Cut the chicken wings on the articulations and add it into the marinade.
  3. Marinate it over night (I actually marinated it for 2 days) in the fridge.
  4. Preheat the oven at 250°C (480°F) with the grill option.
  5. Prepare the glazing mixture:
    1. In a pot, add 3 tablespoons of beer, 3 tablespoons of honey, the juice of a 1cm dice of ginger, a crush clove of garlic, some chili, a pinch of salt and a dash of sesame oil.
    2. Bring it to a boil while mixing and reduce the heat to just simmer it.
  6. Place the chicken wings on a oven grid and cook it on the first side until it begins to be golden brown.
  7. Dip the chicken wings in the glazing mixture and put them back on the grid on the other side.
  8. Cook it until the second side is golden brown and caramelised.
  9. Finally top it with some sliced chives and with sesame seeds.

Bon appétit!

PS: Actually if they cool down a little bit it is even better!

“Fresh Fish” Burger

Fresh Fish

So lately I feel like having burgers – most precisely like experimenting with burgers.

I decided to try to do my first fish burger but I wanted it to have some freshness.

This recipe is the one I tried and the elements in brackets are what I think need to be done to improve it.

Ingredients for one burger:

  • 200 gr of salmon
  • A quarter of lemon
  • Chili flakes
  • Italian herbs
  • Sour cream
  • Cucumber
  • Lettuce
  • Burger buns
  • Paprika
  • Salt and pepper
  • [Philadelphia cheese]
  • [Avocado]

  1. Start with the patty: Mince roughly the salmon with a knife (you can use a food processor if you prefer).
  2. Mix it with the juice of a quarter of lemon, some chili flakes, some Italian herbs and some salt and pepper.
  3. Let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour.
  4. Cut thinly the peeled cucumber. [Dice the avocado.]
  5. Mix the cucumber, [the avocado,], a tablespoon of sour cream, [a tablespoon of Philadelphia cheese], some Italian herbs, some pepper and some paprika.
  6. Slice some lettuce.
  7. Toast the buns.
  8. Form a patty from the salmon mix and put it in a preheated pan with some olive oil on high heat.
  9. When both sides are golden brown, reduce the heat to medium low, add a dash of water and cover. This way the patty will be steamed and juicy.
  10. Finally build the burger (from bottom to top):
    1. Bottom bun
    2. Patty
    3. Sauce
    4. Lettuce
    5. Top bun

You can actually let the patty cool down to make the burger more refreshing.
